SBCGlobal, which is packed with amazing features, has earned a lot of user trust since 1882 and continues to do so by providing the best email services. In addition, to make email accessing easier, SBCGlobal allows users to access their emails from any technical device (mobile, tablet, PC, etc.), and it even allows users to configure it on various email platforms such as Outlook.

Open Microsoft Outlook on your computer or mobile phone to begin the setup process. If you're using the PC application, go to 'File,' then 'Add Account.' If you're using the mobile app, however, you should go to 'Settings' and then 'Add Email Account.' Then select 'Manual Setup or Other Server Types'.

Click 'Next,' then select 'POP or IMAP,' then click 'Next,' and you will be taken to a page where you can enter the actual settings for using SBCGlobal on Outlook.

Fill in the blanks with your full name and email address. Then, from the drop down menu next to 'Account Type,' select either 'POP3' or 'IMAP'. For most users, 'IMAP' is the better option because it is a more advanced protocol that allows you to easily sync your emails across multiple devices. However, there are times when POP3 is preferable, and it does have potential benefits in terms of simplicity and privacy.

Incoming mail settings ‘Imap / Pop3’ & Outgoing mail settings / Smtp

The following are the settings to enter into the remaining fields:

If you chose 'IMAP':

  • imap.mail.att.net is the incoming mail server.
  • Server for Outgoing Mail: smtp.mail.att.net
  • Your full email address will be used as your user name.
  • Password: Your SBCGlobal email account password.

If you chose 'POP3':

  • inbound.att.net is the incoming mail server.
  • Server for Outgoing Mail: outbound.att.net
  • Your full email address will be used as your user name.
  • Password: Your SBCGlobal email account's password.

Before you finish the setup, go to the 'More Settings' button and then the 'Advanced' tab. Check the box next to 'This Server Requires an Encrypted Connection (SSL),' then select 'SSL' from the drop down menu next to 'Use the Following Type of Encryption'.

In addition, enter the following:

  • If you chose 'IMAP':

993 is the incoming server.
465 (Outgoing Server)

  • If you chose 'POP3':

995 is the incoming server.
465 (Outgoing Server)

Then, click 'OK,' then 'Next,' and finally 'Finish.'
